The
Computer Center of UMZ established in 1990 , starting with
an IBM main frame system. The center offers a
wide range of computing facilities for all members of the University, to support
research, teaching and administration.
In addition, many departments have their own facilities for use by their staff and students. Management of the University's central computing and networking facilities is one of the main objective of the Computer Center. Along with these activities, the center has a number of personal computers for providing all sorts of computer services .The computers are used not only for technical application, but also for word-processing, database management and electronic mail etc.

In general, other activities of the Computer Center comprise educational activities (holding computer class and workshops), providing consultancy services to the affiliated units of the University, faculty and other applicants and also preparing and/or installing different hardware & software.
Establishing
optical fiber links
between all faculties distributed in different parts of the University as well

ince
1998, the Computer Center is connected to the internet and hence to other
network services worldwide, including the worldwide web (www).The
Computer Center
created an accounting data-base system for faculty members, academic research
institutes and students of higher education.
